Our Student Councillors attended the National Young Leaders Day at the Perth Convention Centre last Friday. It was a day of inspirational guest speakers, high energy and fun! We heard from John Coutis who travels the world telling his story of how he overcame extreme bullying as a child. John was born with deformed legs and eventually made the decision to have them removed. He now gets around on a skateboard and uses technology to assist his daily life. We also heard from Fiona Wood, renowned WA doctor and burns specialist, Andrew Embley from West Coast Eagles and Rick Ardon, newsreader at Channel 7.
During the breaks we met many of the speakers and student leaders from other schools. We also had fun at the silent disco where Erin and Brodie showed off their moves! We all came away with some very important messages about being an effective and confident leader and how to make positive changes in the world around us….and enjoyed a day out in the city as well!
